We have a HUGE weekend planned for Palladino Academy. Saturday we have a bake sale in the morning and our Inter-squad scrimmage Saturday night under the lights. Sunday we are heading to the Red Bulls game. See below for more details:
Saturday Bake Sale:
We are hosting a bake sale on Saturday at the Roosevelt Island Farmer’s Market. Thank you to those of you that have offered to bake goods and help us staff the table. The bake sale starts at 9AM and we typically stay until 11AM or however long the goods last. If you are baking or donating goods for the sale you can start dropping them off with us at the Farmer’s Market around 8:45 AM.
We can always use more baked goods. Anything left over will be sold at the game on Saturday night!!
We encourage all of our kids to come by and help us work the booth. WEAR YOUR PALLADINO TRAINING SHIRTS and help us promote the club. It’s great work/life experience and customers love to meet the kids.
Saturday Night Lights:
Saturday night from 7PM-8:30PM we will have our next Intra-Squad Scrimmage. Coach Palladino will be sending out rosters and uniform specifications by tomorrow. We will have a $1 concession stand, fun and prizes for the kids. Bring your cameras for a great photo opportunity and bring your outside voices to cheer on the kids. It’s going to be GREAT! Make sure to dress yourselves and the kids warmly as it will be a cool but pleasant evening.
We still need a few volunteers for the concession stand, coaches and referees. We could also use someone to donate and make hot drinks (cocoa, tea, coffee). Please email us if you would like to donate or volunteer.
Sunday Funday with the NY Red Bulls:
Sunday we are all set for the MEET AND GREET with the Red Bulls. Those of you that have pre-ordered your tickets and paid are all set. Our current plan (subject to change) is this: We will meet at Gristedes at 11:30 AM. We will be taking the subway at 11:45 AM. We will likely take the F train to 34th AVE and walk to Penn Station. We will take the PATH train to Journal Square and then transfer to the PATH train headed to Newark, getting off at the Harrison stop near Red Bulls Arena. From there we will either walk to the stadium or catch a shuttle bus. The meet and greet with the Red Bulls players will be sometime between 1:30PM and game time.
The game starts at 3:00PM. We will likely leave the stadium by 5:30PM and arrive back on Roosevelt Island around 7PM.
PLEASE BE SURE TO SEND TRAIN FARE AND FOOD MONEY WITH YOUR CHILD IF YOU WILL NOT BE JOINING US. PATH fares are here and should run about $5.50. MTA fares will also be $5.50. Please plan accordingly.
If you did not get your money in for a ticket and still want to join us, don’t fret. You can still come. Contact Alexa Fuentes: 973-776-8968 and let her know you are with Palladino Academy from Roosevelt Island. She will sell you a ticket and give you details on how to join the group. Tickets are $23 each and that includes the meet and greet.
We will send another email to everyone over the weekend with final details. IT WILL BE SOOOOOO FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Save the Date:
We have another great event coming on Saturday, November 21st. Please mark your calendars as we are working out details with our good friend and sponsor Raven’s Head Pub in Astoria. We will have an end-of-season event featuring the screening of an English Premier League game, food, games, family fun and prizes for the kids. We plan on being at Raven’s Head from 11:30-3:30PM. We will then reconvene for Saturday Night Lights that evening at 7:00PM for our final outdoor night game of the season. We are still working out all of the details but please SAVE THE DATE for a great day of fun with your family at Palladino Academy of Soccer.
2nd Uniform Order has been placed:
For those of you that did not get uniforms in the first shipment: If you placed an order for the second round of uniforms the order has been sent in as of today. We will reach out to each of you individually for payment information. It’s very exciting to see all of the kids getting geared up.
One more thing!!
For those of you that didn’t know: US Men’s Goal Keeper Tim Howard was on Roosevelt Island Wednesday for a charity event. He was making saves on the same field you will be practicing and playing on this weekend. It has to be good luck! More details here. Ask Mack Massey about his autographed ball!
Don’t forget practice today from 4-6 PM on Octagon field.
Looking forward to an amazing weekend! See you on the Pitch!
